The current Fowler Branch Library has been in its current location since 1914 when the Fowler community’s population was 700 residents.

Today, the 1,340 square foot facility is inadequate to meet the needs of the 6,500 residents in the library service area.

The New Fowler Branch Library will offer:

  • 8,300 square foot building
  • Separate spaces for children, teens and adults
  • History and quiet room
  • Multi-purpose meeting room with kitchenette
  • Homework center
  • Computer lab with 15 public computers
  • Secured outdoor courtyard
  • Space for job search training, a literacy program, continuing education classes
  • Larger collections in a variety of formats, including other languages.

The interior will be spacious and well lit with plenty of room whether you want to read quietly, bring your children or grandchildren to story time, or attend a class.

The multi-purpose meeting room will serve as a homework center with laptop computers that students can check out to work on their assignments. It will accommodate literacy classes and be available to community groups free of charge for meetings that are open to the public. There is outside access to the room and a small catering kitchen.

The Fowler community has provided over a $1.1 million for library construction. Donations have been received from individuals, families, businesses, foundations and the City of Fowler. It is not too late to get involved in this effort. In addition to accepting donations for naming opportunities, The Friends of the Fresno County Public Library are selling paving bricks for the entrance of the library that can be engraved with your name or in honor of or in memory of the names of loved ones.

Bricks are available in 4×8” or 8×8” sizes for $100 and $250, respectively. The 4×8” bricks can accommodate 3 lines of type with 20 spaces each, including spaces and punctuation. The 8×8” bricks accommodate 6 lines of type with 20 spaces, including spaces and punctuation.
